Trauma-Sensitive Teaching: Creating Safe & Supportive Spaces (10 Hours)

This 10-hour training introduces the foundational principles of trauma-sensitive yoga teaching, equipping instructors with the awareness and skills to create safe, inclusive, and supportive environments for all students. Rather than focusing on trauma itself, this course emphasizes how trauma may present in the body and behavior, and how teaching approaches can either support or unintentionally disrupt a student’s sense of safety. You will learn how to use intentional language, offer choice, and structure classes in a way that prioritizes autonomy and awareness. This training explores the impact of tone, pacing, cueing, and presence, helping you refine your teaching in a way that is both accessible and empowering. You will also gain insight into common triggers, boundaries, and the importance of meeting students where they are, without assumption or pressure. Designed for both new and experienced teachers, this course provides practical tools that can be immediately integrated into any class setting, from group classes to one-on-one sessions. Trauma-sensitive teaching is not a separate style of yoga, it is an approach that enhances all teaching by fostering trust, respect, and connection. This course qualifies for 10 hours of continuing education and may be combined with additional LRW trainings to fulfill Yoga Alliance CE requirements.
