Yoga Teachers : Continuing Education with Lotus River Wellness

At Lotus River Wellness, we believe that learning doesn’t stop after your 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training (YTT)—it’s only the beginning. Our Continuing Education offerings are designed to help you deepen your knowledge, refine your skills, and grow both personally and professionally. Once you’ve graduated from our 200-hour YTT, you are eligible to enroll in these advanced courses, which meet the current requirements set by Yoga Alliance for maintaining your Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) designation.

Understanding Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Requirements

Currently, in order to maintain an active RYT status with Yoga Alliance, teachers must complete 30 hours of continuing education every three years. These hours are divided into:

  • 20 Hours of Yoga Training: This includes in-person or online courses covering topics such as asana practice, teaching methodology, anatomy, and philosophy.

  • 10 Hours of Self-Study or Teaching Experience: This can involve reading yoga texts, attending workshops, or reflecting on your teaching experiences.

Our Continuing Education courses are meticulously crafted to meet these requirements while offering relevant, practical tools tailored to the unique challenges and opportunities faced by SOF spouses.

How Continuing Education Benefits SOF Spouses

  • Personal Growth: Deepening your yoga practice encourages self-awareness, stress management, and emotional balance. For SOF spouses, this is a powerful way to reclaim your sense of identity and resilience in the face of the unique demands of military life.

  • Professional Growth: Expanding your expertise through continuing education opens doors to new career opportunities. Whether you dream of teaching specialty yoga classes, leading workshops, or supporting the SOF community through wellness, these advanced certifications enhance your credibility and reach as a yoga professional.

  • Family Growth: When you invest in yourself, you’re also investing in your family. Continuing your education equips you with tools to model healthy coping strategies, teach mindfulness at home, and support your partner and children during transitions or challenges.

Our Continuing Education Offerings

Lotus River Wellness provides courses that not only fulfill Yoga Alliance requirements but also align with our mission of supporting SOF spouses holistically. Topics include trauma-informed yoga, yoga for stress relief, restorative practices, and yoga philosophy as it applies to real-life challenges. These courses are flexible, allowing you to balance learning with the demands of family and military life.
